Our History
John Paul II Academy is committed to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, moral, emotional, and physical development of each child.
Preschool
John Paul II Academy offers a state-licensed program for three and four year olds. Staffed by a certified teacher, the focus is on preparing students for Kindergarten through a multi-sensory and integrated curriculum.
Grades K – 8
John Paul II Academy has an academic program encompassing all curricular areas.
The primary-level program, grades K through two, use an array of stimulating learning experiences to support learning across the curriculum with a strong focus on reading-language arts and mathematics.
The intermediate-level program, grades three through five, not only stresses the basics in the core content areas but also provides enrichment opportunities in literature (Accelerated Reader), mathematics, music (chorus for grades three to five and band for grades four to five).
The upper school program, grades six through eight, is fully departmentalized in the core areas and offers a curriculum that encompasses varied learning experiences in each area. Students in grade eight may test into the Algebra program at the end of seventh grade. The Accelerated Reader program, chorus, and band are also available.
Religious Education
John Paul II Academy provides more than instruction in the Catholic Faith. Prayer, Sacraments, School Liturgies, and many devotional practices are integrated into the school day throughout the academic year. The major focus of the religious education program is to provide an environment based on Gospel values where students can grow as members of the faith community. Upper school students are required to earn five hours each term through service to both parishes and the Academy.
Expanded Services
John Paul II Academy boasts two state-of-the-art computer labs with a technology education program utilizing iMac and eMac computers, ActivBoards, and Internet access. Connectivity to the Internet is available throughout the school.
Fine Arts
The fine arts program offered at John Paul II Academy include seasonal religious plays, a Spring Musical, two Band Concerts, Choir presentations, Kids’ Art Cart with the Jennings Hall residents, and much more!
Support Services
Students at John Paul II Academy have access to a wide range of support services. Peer tutoring and after school teacher tutoring is available to all students. Chapter I reading, Title I math, learning disability services, speech services, and psychological services are provided to those students who qualify for this support.
Before and After School Extended Care Program
Before and After School Extended Care Program utilizes classrooms in John Paul II Academy. All students are eligible to enroll in this program. The Before School Program begins at 6:30 a.m. and concludes at 8:00 a.m. when students begin the school day. The After School Program begins after the end of the school day and operates until 6:00 p.m. Students have supervised time for homework, and also participate in structured play and enrichment activities.
